Super bon album que je viens de découvrir, un mélange d'afrobeat avec du latin soul plus des ambiances modernes.
ça devrait sortir en Mars, 2007 s'annonce comme un bon cru !

"Manifest Tones" sways to the rhythms of Africa, but is steeped in a Latin liquor, which produces an intriguing and at times humorous musical concoction. The work of Antibalas member Marcos 'Marquitos' Garcia, this album is a fun-loving cultural fusion, which works because it doesn't take itself too seriously. This point is brought home by appearance of cheap keytronics, which exude a bizarre cuteness and laugh in the face of po-faced musical blends. Tasty musical delicacies include "Soul Freedom", with its addictive vocal refrain and delicate percussion, and the dreamy "Sound Is Everything". Afro-Latin sounds capes on a budget!

Marcos ‘Marquitos' Garcia alias Chico Man est le guitariste du groupe Antibalas. Son album Manifest Tones vol 1 est sorti en février 2007 sur le label hollandais Kindred Spirits (distribution Pias).

Son concert sera suivi des djs du label qui font les beaux jours d'une ses plus belles salles en Europe : le Paradiso à Amsterdam.
